In the UK

All my ramblings, questions and notes about things to do and worries to have before we go!

Back to the UK…

Heading back to the UK for 10 days of frantic sorting before we head to Mallorca for good – OMG!!!!!!

Took a Ryanair flight which was the normal chaos with a severe lack of charm!  Screaming children and unhelpful staff! They took our hand luggage off us with no warning and luckily my husband grabbed our paperwork out of it, whilst they tried to tugg it out of his hand!

If he hadn’t our pasports would have been the wrong side of passport control!! I’m not sure how you would get around such a situation!

Still it reminds us of the general hospitality and warmth of UK customer service!

Lovely to be back in good old blighty!

3 weeks to go!

Trying to sort out paperwork in Spanish – nightmare! !

Trying to find some where to live in Mallorca – nightmare!

Trying to pack everything up ready to go – nightmare!

Trying to advise everyone of our imminent departure from the UK – nightmare!

Trying to keep the home sane and normal (ish) for the children – nightmare!

Despite it all, I am still somehow holding it all together – I wonder when I will snap?

OMG!!!!!!!!!!

Wow! Now we are in trouble.

There I was leisurely sorting out all our rubbish and planning to head out to Mallorca in late May / early June, however my dear husband has ruined all my well laid plans – by getting a job!!!!!!!!!!!!

He has to start early May!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bad sleep last night; wondering how we are going to get everything done and find a place to rent out there in 4 weeks?

Where do you start……..????

Soooo busy

We’re planning to head over in May!

Had a quote from a few removal firms to take our belongings over for us and they are so expensive.  You suddenly realise when you walk around your home and a man with a clipboard jots it all down; just how much rubbish we have accumulated over the years!

So I have been busy taking pics of all our decent stuff and selling it on Ebay and Gumtree!! Some has gone to friends and Charity shops.

But a HUGE amount has just gone down the tip or recycling!!

Need to get to the bare minimum of things to take, if I don’t love it or need it – then it must go – as I can’t afford to pay thousands of pounds for someone to take my rubbish to Mallorca for me!

Off to sort some more now…..

Need all the help we can get… so thank you

People are so helpful, we have had so many people email us and help us with the tricky decisions we are having to make.

Getting information about anything in Mallorca is so difficult when you are not there and do not speak the language (yet)! So many people have been helping us, with opinions, information, links, ideas etc and it’s all from people who already done it. It make us feel so much more able to make these difficult decisions and have people to turn to when we get lost in it all.

The kindness we have received from everyone, not only when in Mallorca but back in the UK too, has made us feel so much more comfortable about our Mallorcan dreams and attempting to turn them into a reality – you have taken some of the fear away – so THANK YOU ALL!

Turning dreams into reality

cropped-033.jpgFinally sold our house, so here we go….!!

First things first we need to sell all the rubbish we have accumulated over the years before the sale goes through!

Then we need to find somewhere to live in Mallorca. Hubby wants to go North Island near Pollensa but it may be too far to travel to the International schools – maybe we should send the kids to a local school?

So we’ve booked a flight to visit Mallorca with our two children (both 8 years old) for next week to visit a few International and local schools and speak to estate agents, accountants, language schools (so we can learn some Spanish) etc.

Hopefully  we will get some answers to the many questions we have whizzing around in our heads and then we can make some final decisions about our move to Mallorca!

If you’ve already done it and are now in Mallorca or thinking of making the move – let us know, we’d love to hear from you.
